Alexa’s Baby Registry

I wanted to share a little bit about myself. My name is Alexa; I work two jobs and still live with my parents, though I’m in the process of moving out on my own. This year has been incredibly hard for my whole family. My grandpa had been sick for a long time, and at the beginning of the year, I found out I was pregnant. My partner and I decided to keep the news to ourselves because of my grandpa’s health. On May 3rd, I found out I was having a boy. The very next day—Monday, May 4th—I had my 12-week ultrasound to check that the baby was healthy and developing well. I got the wonderful news that he was perfectly healthy. That was the exact moment my grandpa passed away.

I was overwhelmed with emotion because I never got to share the news with him. I never told him he was going to be a great-grandfather for the first time—something he had longed for. But in my heart, I feel like my grandpa always knew, and maybe he was the one who sent this baby to me. We’ve struggled a lot since he passed, but thank God, we’re keeping our heads up. I’m in my final trimester now, and while I still need a few things for the baby, I’ve been buying little items here and there to make sure he has everything he needs.
