Baby Scottie’s Story — Our Little Miracle 🤍
For those who may not know, we’ve been keeping our pregnancy pretty private, and it’s been a long, emotional, and honestly unimaginable journey getting here.
At our 20-week anatomy scan, we received news that changed everything. We were told there were serious concerns about our baby girl’s growth and development, and at one point, we were preparing for the possibility that I might not even make it past 24 weeks with less than a 10% chance of her surviving. We were faced with conversations, diagnoses, and fears no expecting parent should ever have to navigate.
Since then, this pregnancy has been one battle after another. I’ve been fighting preeclampsia for nearly 12 weeks now, and we’ve faced extremely low amniotic fluid, concerns about blood flow through Scottie’s umbilical cord due to abnormal Dopplers, and fetal growth restriction that put her below the 1st percentile. Along the way, we were given concerns about possible spina bifida and skeletal dysplasia, with so many unknowns and so much uncertainty about what her future might look like.
There have been so many scary appointments, difficult conversations, and moments of wondering how we would ever make it to the next milestone. But through it all, Scottie has continued to fight.
And somehow, here we are. 🤍
We are now in the home stretch, with about four weeks left until we hope to welcome our sweet girl into the world. Our doctors have described her journey as a miracle and a medical anomaly, and it’s hard to find words to explain just how much it means to have made it this far.
We know our journey won’t necessarily end when she’s born. Because she is so tiny, we are preparing for a NICU stay and the possibility of feeding difficulties as she learns to grow stronger. There are still unknowns ahead, but we are so incredibly proud of our little girl and everything she has already overcome.
As for me, I am exhausted. Nearly three months of battling preeclampsia, appointments, monitoring, bed rest, and the constant worry have taken so much out of me. I am so ready to meet her and finally begin this next chapter with her on the outside. 🥹
We won’t be having a traditional baby shower because of everything this pregnancy has brought and the restrictions that have come with it. Instead, we’re quietly getting ready for Scottie’s arrival and putting together a baby registry for the things we’ll need.
If anyone feels inclined to help us prepare for her arrival, we would be so grateful for diapers, baby essentials, or anything from our registry. Please know there is absolutely no pressure or expectation — your love, prayers, and support mean more than you know.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, whether you’ve known the whole story or are just hearing it for the first time. We cannot wait to introduce you to our little miracle, Scottlyn. 🤍Bundled picks made to gift
