Ryan’s Baby Registry

Abby Ryan

“Pregnant again?! Already?!” You know you thought it. We thought it too when Abby and Colt announced that they were having a 3rd baby just 4 months after the birth of their 2nd daughter. This pregnancy has been anything but normal. Abby and Colt were done having children, until an IUD malfunction left them scrambling. Early this year Abby found out her IUD had punctured her uterus and was floating inside her body.! She was pregnant, AGAIN! Just 4 months after giving birth. Abby had been experiencing excruciating pain since the birth of Evelyn, and now she had a reason. After speaking with her doctor, they decided it was best to remove the IUD before it punctured her intestines or other organs and caused sepsis or miscarriage. While Abby donned her surgery gown and the doctors wheeled her back to the OR, another unexpected frustration occurred. The anesthesiologist refused to provide sedation because he felt morally opposed to the potential harm it could cause the baby. There was no consideration for my sister and her health or that her doctor felt this surgery was in the best interest for a healthy mom and baby. Indiana has the 3rd highest maternal mortality rate in the U.S. Unfortunately, there seems to be no reversal in those rates in sight, as Indiana continues to restrict the choices a woman and her doctor can make for her health. After the case was brought to the ethics board, and several more weeks of excruciating pain and living with the fear that the IUD could puncture another organ at any moment, it was decided the surgery could procede. It went off without a hitch! The rest of the pregnancy has been mostly uneventful and healthy. My sister is now just a week away from being induced because she has a history of preeclampsia. All this to say, the Ryan family has had a tough year and next week they will have 3 children 3yrs old and younger. And in this economy, you know that’s rough! If you would like to help the Ryan family because you know and love them or because you want to stick it to the antiquated Indiana maternal health laws, it would be ever so appreciated! They would especially love DoorDash gift cards so that dinner can be easily handled in the beginning weeks as a family of 5! Thank you to everyone who contributed and CONGRATS to my sister and nieces, and I guess her husband too (please stop knocking her up). 🤣😅 Also, congrats to my future nephew (Yes, it’s a boy!). You’ve already made quite the impression! 💗💗💗
