"We have hired Jessica with Rose Moon Birth Services as our doula. Doulas are a support person that provides education and support to both mothers and birthing partners through the prenatal and birthing process, or after. Prenatally, she will provide education for Anna on the birthing process, emotional support, pain management techniques, and help in creating a birth plan. Brandon will get to learn how to be active in the labor and birthing process, how to support mom and baby, and techniques for hands-on comfort and support in the hospital. During the birthing process, Jessica acts a support person for both Anna and Brandon, guiding them through what they’ve learned and helping navigate the hospital process. This could look like ensuring the birth plan is followed, or ensuring sufficient understanding and time for decision making is provided if other options should be considered.
