A doula is a trained birth professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor and delivery. For us, it’s about having someone in that room who is solely there for us — to advocate for our wishes, help us navigate decisions in real time, and keep us calm and grounded during one of the most intense experiences of our lives. Doula support has been shown to lead to better birth outcomes, lower stress, and a more positive overall experience — and for a first-time mom, that kind of personalized guidance means everything to me. Doula services typically range from $2,500–$5,000, and they aren’t typically covered by insurance.
