Barrett family emergency mold evacuation wishlist
Thank you to everyone who is coming here to try to help. Every little bit adds up as we have to navigate this very difficult situation.
Unbeknownst to us, our rental house has had serious hidden mold in the walls, ceiling and floor for 2 years making us sick. I (Danielle) have been the most heavily affected and have developed serious conditions since living here. This past couple weeks, the ceiling cracked in our son's room, our landlord came over to inspect (after a 2 week period) and without proper permission, containment, or notice to evacuate the room contents he attempted a DIY repair. This included ripping down ceiling drywall releasing toxic mold spores, mycotoxins, drywall dust and allergens from old insulation everywhere. This was done while the HVAC system was running and in my sons rooms, covering his clothes, furniture and toys in this debris. This means the toxic mold was immediately circulated through the home and permeated all our things within minutes.
Our tenant insurance will not cover any costs as this is considered a "landlord negligence" situation, and the landlords insurance won't cover our contents only the building. Due to the severity of the mold infestation and Danielle's health conditions we need to replace more than 90% of the things we own. We cannot take anything porous or semi porous with us or it will cause her to stay and progress with mold sickness. Danielle and the children are having serious mold related symptoms now so it's very important not to bring anything with us that could carry the toxins.
This wishlist is for immediate needs to have at our new house so we can manage the first couple weeks while we figure out what we can save from our things and what we have to toss. It might take months to clean what we can salvage - the few things we might be able to save are going into an off site storage facility until cleaning protocols can be implemented.
We appreciate everyones care and if you prefer to send cash directly you can do so to [email protected], as well Amazon gift cards, grocery store gift cards, walmart etc in any amount will help us to get the basics to start again. Thank you so much and please be praying for continued healing for our family and God's protection as we navigate everything.
** For reference if anyone is looking at clothes for the kids***
- Ziyon is size 4t, he likes things that go and dinosaurs. Any color except red, he hates red.
- Skylah is about a size 10, very petite and needs slim fit. She likes to dress modestly with no short shorts or tummy showing and loves all colours and styles except popular characters. She really likes "old lady stuff" like long frilly dresses or skirts, cardigans, flower prints and jumpers/coveralls and sleep dresses. She does not care about brands all all.
- Ryker is a size 10/12. He struggles to fit bottoms because he is long and thin and has sensory issues. Brands that fit are Puma, Hurley, Levi jeans, Tommy Bahama, Adidas - we usually find at Costco because it's cheaper.
He fits any brand of shirts and mainly loves Walmart tees (Mario, hot wheels, realistic animals, national parks).
Thank you so very much to everyone for coming here to help.General
