"Hi Family and Friends, its Dev! Thank you for being apart of our little village, thank you for considering us and making space for us in your busy lives. Now that we're expecting a little one, our girl, Amaris Della-Symone Emptage, *wow*... we're preparing ourselves for the chaos of the newborn trenches. One of the ways I love to show up for others is by cooking and it's honestly one of my favorite things to receive in return and what better time to help a girl out then when she becomes a mommy??? A mamacita! So friends, family... let me tell you what I would just looooveee to have as a reward for pushing a human out of my hooha: Soups, ughhhh. I am Jamaican so please let me live- Chicken Foot Soup is a banger. I also love Red Peas Soup with Smoked Turkey Neck. Manish Wata (Goat Soup) Fish Tea... yes. I also LOVE RAMEN.. so if you plan to come by sometime after I deliver.. please, at the very least-- COME WITH RAMEN (Ani Ramen in Montclair NJ to be specific, chicken or beef cause there's no pork on my fork) Another item I love is a BEEF* baconeggandcheese with avocado. I've honestly eaten this so much throughout my pregnancy, I hope I don't tire of it. I really love West African cuisine... specifically Egusi with smoked turkey and fufu, okra stew too *staring at all my Nigerian & Ghanaian friends* I do like a good bake, like a chicken pot pie. Oh Yes. I'm very big on vegetable too so if that's all you can manage to whip up... Bok choy, asparagus, spinach, kale... collard greens... I mean, I'll take a salad, really. A good baked chicken OR my brothers oxtail =]... to keep my iron up, you know thats very important after these kinds of things. I could go on and on. Really, I could however I'm pretty sure you get the gist of the kinds of foods I'd really like after I do this Labor and Delivery thing. Most importantly, who I'd want to show up at my door with said food. That's the important part. You. "As a new dad, this time is crucial to help not only our newborn baby but my wife in her postpartum recovery. During this time, I will have to step up to make sure all appointments are made and met. Food is made, home is clean and theres an overall peace in our home where a new baby will reside. This time would mean so much for me as this will be a bonding experience for all 3 of us.
