If you’re planning on purchasing or handing down old clothing, we’ve put together a little guide of the sizes and clothing types our little one will likely need throughout the first year.

We live in sunny Southern California, where summers are very hot and winters are generally mild, so this should help you pick clothing that’s perfect for the season they’ll be wearing it!

❄️ Newborn (December)

Footed sleepers, long sleeve onesies, swaddles, beanies, and socks.

❄️ 0 to 3 Months (December to March)

Long sleeve bodysuits, zipper sleepers, lightweight sweaters, pants, and socks.

🌸 3 to 6 Months (March to June)

Short and long sleeve bodysuits, lightweight pants, light pajamas, sun hats, and light jackets for cooler evenings.

☀️ 6 to 9 Months (June to September)

Short sleeve onesies, rompers, shorts, lightweight pajamas, sun hats, and swimsuits or rash guards.

🍂 9 to 12 Months (September to December)

A mix of short and long sleeve outfits, pants, lightweight hoodies, pajamas, and socks.

❄️ 12 to 18 Months (December to June)

Warm pajamas, long sleeve shirts, pants, sweaters, light jackets, and beanies for cooler mornings.
