Kara and Eric’s Baby Registry

Thanks for helping us welcome, Skunkie! Baby’s nickname, Skunkie, doesn’t come from that smelly animal but rather our favorite plant, skunk cabbage. Skunk cabbage has a lot of meaning in our relationship, and each February we go searching for it emerging through the snow. It’s one of the first plants to come up for the season, and we love that Skunkie’s due date aligns right with the first weekend we can usually find it! Your prayers and well wishes are deeply appreciated as the Janssen family grows and enters a new season this February!

Babies need a lot and only use things for a short period of time! To be both earth and budget-friendly, we welcome finding used & preloved versions of baby items on our registry! We can’t over-emphasize that used is great - trying to do our part to contribute less to the landfill and we’re finding you can find basically brand-new versions of every baby item out there on Facebook Marketplace or at thrift stores. 🤩 There’s also great used/open box baby gear websites like Good Buy Gear and Rebelstork online. Please just mark it as purchased (or let us know) if you find an item elsewhere! We have a number of large items we’d like to find secondhand close to home, so a monetary contribution is also an easy way to help get us what we need for less.

If you choose to buy something new online, we prefer shipping to our home in Denver as our suitcase and car space will be somewhat limited on our journeys back and forth between the Midwest this fall and winter.

We plan to read to Skunkie lots! We welcome baby books (used is perfect here, too!) in place of cards - we’d love for you to include a note for Skunkie in it!

Skunkie’s gender is a surprise. If you can’t resist buying clothes (we know it can be hard not to and again preloved clothing is great!), we’d prefer 6-9 months or 9-12 months sizes. We like nature, adventure, mountain, and veggie themes.
