"We are currently saving up to do our homebirth with Roots Midwifery, a Black midwife organization in Boston. We are also saving to work with a doula. Numbers show that homebirths can have better outcomes for mom and the baby. Considering the statistics of Black maternal death in hospitals, we wanted to go a different route. Statistics also show that moms who have doulas are less likely to suffer from postpartum and in general, mom and baby ae happier. These funds will help us cover the cost of working with Stephanie, who runs Roots Midwifery. She will do our prenatal and postnatal care along with our home birth. It will also help us cover the cost of working with a doula, who will do prenatal and postpartum visits, along with being onsite during the homebirth."
