In developing countries, less than 70% of new moms give birth in a hospital or with a certified birth attendant present. Each year, nearly 1 million babies die the day they are born. Your gift of a skilled birth attendant is one of the most strategic ways to help save the lives of a mother and her baby and will provide skilled birth attendants to create a clean, safe birth environment for the mom and baby and deal with potential complications. Hand-delivered by a Survival specialist, a Newborn Care Package is filled with basic supplies that a new mother needs to care for her child. This gift, consisting of blankets, soaps, lotions, towels and diapers, reminds a mother that she is not alone in raising her baby. The first year of a child’s life is vital — and without proper medical care and growth monitoring, irreversible damage can be done. Your gift will ensure that a mom has access to basic services including vaccinations, medical checkups, and health care through the first 12 months of her baby’s life.
